The best learning experience for kids

When it comes to selecting a school or nursery for children, all parents want nothing but the best. The best, the safest and the most productive nursery school for their children is what every mother and father want.

The Kid's Island Nursery at Villa 116, Al Hamra st (18d st) in the Jumeirah 3 area of Dubai ticks all the right boxes for anyone looking for a Dubai nursery. It’s open to children between the ages of 12 months and four years. And because of the high child-adult ratio (all classes have a qualified and experienced teacher who is supported by one or two assistants, depending on the class' age group), parents can rest assured that all their children are being looked after and that each child receives individual attention at the school.

The British Curriculum (EYFS) is followed at the nursery school which is an advantage for all children, and especially for the expatriates. Kid’s Island provides a warm and nurturing environment for tiny tots to build self-awareness and enrich their social skills so that they are ready to face bigger things in life later on. They are allowed to reach their maximum capabilities within the safe and relaxing atmosphere of the school.

Kid's Island in Dubai was established over 23 years ago by Isabelle. Her philosophy is that each child is unique and deserves to be given the opportunity to experience the best possible start to education. She has over 32 years of experience in Early Years Education and applies her wealth of knowledge to the day-to-day running of the school.

Amatoury and her dedicated and committed team work tirelessly to ensure that the foundations for positive attitudes are established in a healthy, warm and nurturing learning environment as a result of years of carefully informed resourcing, through the adoption of a balanced and holistic approach.

The school interacts closely with parents too, encouraging their inputs in recognition of the fact that parents are a child’s first educators. They also get the opportunity for early drop-off or late pick-up according to their convenience. Flexibility is a hallmark of Kid’s Island with attendance options being provided for children of two, three, four or five days per week depending on the age group.

Kid’s Island - the best place for children

When it comes to selecting a school or nursery for their children, all parents look for nothing but the best. They want the place to be safe and productive, the teachers and assistants to be qualified and experienced as well as kind and caring. They want their beloved children to develop self-awareness and social skills so they are ready for the more demanding requirements of school.

For anyone looking for a nursery in Dubai, Kid's Island Nursery at Villa 116, Al Hamra st (18d st) in the Jumeirah 3 area of Dubai is the obvious choice. Children aged between 12 months and four years will gain admission to Kid’s Island. And because of the high child-adult ratio (all classes have a qualified and experienced teacher who is supported by one or two assistants, depending on the class' age group), parents can rest assured that all their children are being looked after and that individual attention is being paid to each of them.

The British Curriculum (EYFS) being followed at the nursery school is a definite advantage for the expatriate children. The warm and nurturing environment provided for the tiny tots at the nursery help them build self-awareness and enrich their social skills, allowing them to reach their full potential.

Isabelle Amatoury is the brains behind Kid's Island which was founded in Dubai over 23 years ago. Her philosophy is that each child is unique and deserves an opportunity to experience the best possible start to education. She has over 32 years of experience in Early Years Education and applies her wealth of knowledge to the day-to-day operations of the school.

Isabelle, along with the dedicated and committed team, works tirelessly to ensure that the foundations for positive attitudes are established in a healthy, warm and nurturing learning environment as a result of years of carefully informed resourcing, through the adoption of a balanced and holistic approach.

As the school recognises that parents are the first educators of children, it has accorded a due place for parents also to interact closely with the school, encouraging their inputs, unlike some schools where they try to keep parents out. Parents are also given the additional option of early drop-off or late pick-up according to their convenience. Attendance options for children also vary - from two, three, four or five days per week depending on the age group.  Flexibility is a hallmark of Kid’s Island and these options are symbols of that flexibility.

Importance of parents involvement in the kids nursery

Seeing your little baby grow up and start walking and talking maybe an exciting period for you as a parent. Before long the time will come for you to make a decision on a Day care in Dubai and a nursery to begin your kids’ first education.

Starting schooling at a young age is a big step for toddlers. Many parents depend greatly on a Childrens nursery in Dubai with day care facilities to leave their children in the best hands possible when they need to attend to office or other work.

Dubai Nursery caregivers greatly emphasis on the importance of a parent being part of the nursery education for their children as much as possible. Childcare nursery in Dubai may be able to look after, care and educate your children well but nothing can replace the importance of the involvement of the parents.

Parents are reminded time after time from nurseries how important it is to be involved in all stages of the children’s’ development. Nurseries ensure that a good partnership is built with the parents and that the relationships with the parents are maintained throughout the nursery years. It has been proved that parents’ involvement greatly contributes to the children’s education and wellbeing.

Many nurseries include the parents at the initial stage when they plan the activities for the school term. They encourage the parents to share their views at this planning stage. This is a wonderful relationship between the staff and parents, they will respect and value each other while learning from the others views and experiences. In return the children will receive the best possible experiences in learning.

Parents are also usually involved in many special activities organized including cooking lessons, fund raiser activities, costume preparation for concerts, sports days, etc. Parents are also encouraged to volunteer to join day camps and trips.

Nurseries also encourage parents to join in the start or at the end of one lesson in a week to see learning in action. This also helps parents to understand the concept of active learning and education through play to encourage the same at home. Some also hand out quarterly newsletters to help parents keep in track with activities carried out by the nursery.

Nurseries also carry out special classes or meetings for parents to provide parents with a background of the children, their behaviour patterns, their likes and dislikes and progress made.

The importance of active parents’ involvement cannot be stressed enough. Talk to your nursery caregivers about more ways you can get involved in your childrens education today.

The role of play dough in kids play at Dubai Nursery

Out of the many nursery methods in education, many of the best nursery schools in Dubai rely heavily on the motto learning through play. One such play material is play dough! Not only is it fun and popular among young children but the benefits of it when it comes to education are many.

Play dough has an indirect impact towards improving the fine motor skills of children. The malleable properties of play dough make it fun for investigation and exploration as well as secretly building up strength in all the tiny hand muscles and tendons, making them ready for pencil and scissor control later on.

Poking in objects and pulling them out of play dough strengthens hand muscles and co-ordination. As part of simple, tactile play it can be squashed, squeezed, rolled, flattened, chopped, cut, scored, raked, punctured, poked and shredded! Each one of these different actions aids fine motor development in a different way, not to mention hand-eye co-ordination and general concentration. And as soon as you add another element to it, the list of benefits and creative play possibilities continues to grow!

The kids imagination and creativity can grow in leaps and bounds when they play with play dough. As soon as you introduce open ended play items to add to the mix, play dough becomes the perfect medium for numerous types of imaginative play and can represent so many things in a child’s eyes. A jar of candles and cupcakes cases leads naturally to birthday party role-play, counting out candles and singing! Glass pebbles can lead to sea-side imaginative small world play with storytelling about sea creatures and mermaids!

Also play dough can help calm and sooth anyone including kids and adults. The effects of all that squeezing and pummeling are great for stress relief and can feel extremely therapeutic! Little children can struggle to express their emotions and using dough while talking and singing can really help that process.

With time play dough can be used in more focused play and help in introducing mathematics, science and literacy skills. Talk to your nursery school to learn more on the use of play dough as a part of daily play and learning times with the young children.

How to identify a child friendly environment

If you visit any day care facilities in Dubai or children’s nursery the first thing that would catch you eyes if the colourful interior. From the walls, to the decorations to even the furniture’s will all be in playful shades of red, pink, blue and yellow and other bright shades that children love.

When it comes to child friendly nurseries you may ask is it important that the interior should be child friendly – both in line of safety and decoration. How important is it that nursery should create an indoor environment tailor made for children?

The environment in which children grow is indeed a vital element for his development. Not only should it be a safe place where they are continuously supervised and ensured no harmful objects are at their arms reach, but it should also be where they are inspired and introduced to new objects and activities from the basic tasks of eating, sleeping, playing, washing hands to learning new skills, coordination, communication, understanding names of objects and understanding meaning of words.
It is important that the learning area for children should be set up with low shelves at children’s reach. It should have specific places for the children where they can learn and work independently.  Some nurseries even have four or more learning areas for different tasks, including a comfortable carpet or couch as a reading area, and a more lively environment with pets and/or plants to teach the basics of science.

The environment does play a major role in supporting the curriculum set for young children. As it is important to allow the children to experiment, and have access to hands-on-learning the environment can help encourage the children’s through their early learning and development stages. A dramatic play area, locations for water and sand play, blocks area, reading corners, art and craft area are all vital to encourage the children to learn through play.

Children need to feel loved, warm, cared and well fed to be able to take part in active learning. They need to be allowed to move around and play. Adults need to be available to support their activities and learnings. With this in mind an ideal environment for children should provide the children with the best in play, experience, people, teaching, communication, friends, independence, encouragement and most of all it should be fun and a welcoming environment. This is the importance of child friendly environments in Dubai.
