What Parents Need To Look For In A Childcare Nursery

A good nursery should have clearly defined policies for everything starting from opening and closing times to dealing with emergencies. As parents it is important to check that the basics are in place to make sure you are able to trust them enough to take responsibility of your precious child. Parents also need to be assured that the nursery is flexible in certain ways, for example if you are late to pick your child in case of an emergency, there should be a responsible adult to look after the child until you arrive.
Since there are many other children in the facility, you need to check on the illness policy of the nursery. For what type of illnesses should the child be kept home and for how long? In case the child gets sick in the nursery what type of precautions are taken and how is the child treated.
It is important that you find a nursery that has effective, clear and mutually respectful communication with the parents. The staff members need to discuss any negative or positive aspects of the child on a regular basis. The parents too should be able to approach the staff as and when needed, this is why the open door policy is an important factor. The open door policy needs to remain consistent from the start to the last day that the child leaves school. Many nurseries promote open days for parents to come and check the location however once the child joins the nursery they discourage further discussion. That is not a good sign of an established nurserythe parent teacher communication should be an ongoing process.
Many parents do not pay attention to this, however the foundation that you have at the nursery goes a long way. Hence how you say goodbye to your child specially till they are settled in is very important.  Starting nursery is a wonderful way of gifting your child with the advantage of extending knowledge, stimulation and skills outside the home environment. Saying goodbye and giving your child the knowledge, confidence and trust that you will return, is an important stage in their emotional and social development and part of your journey as parents.Make sure your nursery is sensitive to this factor and that they treat each child individually.
If the nursery provides food, make sure you check the level of hygiene it is prepared and also what is on the menu on a regular basis. Many parents are reluctant to ask questions from childcare professionals however it is the right of the parent to know what goes on in the facility that they are child is left. These are factors ever parent should look for whether it is a childcare nursery Dubai, UK, Africa or India. Every child is precious and it is the responsibility of the parent or guardian to ensure that they are given the love and protection during the best years of their lives.
